Georgian artist Merab Gagiladze was born in Tbilisi in 1972. In 1987, he began his formal art education at the Tbilisi Art College, Department of Ceramics. In 1990, he continued his studies at the prestigious Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, graduating in 1996 with a degree in Graphic Artist.
His works have been exhibited in numerous collections in galleries throughout Georgia, as well as in England, Ireland, France and the United States. Merab’s work reflects the beauty and diversity of life. It conveys the joys, sorrows and dreams of an ordinary person.
The artist draws his unique characters from history, mythology and religion. He often uses symbolism to enrich the content of his works; beautiful and subtle ornaments add elegance and light to his remarkable paintings. Complex textures, shades and compositions reveal technical sophistication as well as skillful imagination.
